Monasterevin Gospel Choir broadcast their Annual Christmas Carol Service from St. Peter & Paul’s Church Monasterevin on the 16th December 2020.
The performance was the first since the Covid-19 lockdowns commenced so there was some apprehension that the long lay-off might affect the high-performance levels of every other year. However, backed up by one valuable rehearsal and great commitment on the night from the members of the choir, the performance was a huge success, based on feedback from people in Monasterevin, across Ireland and all around the globe. The last count is that it was watched by thousands.
Fr. Liam Merrigan P.P., Sr. Angela and Aine Doyle told the story of Christmas during the Carol Service which was recorded and broadcast live by Martin Cavanagh and his team at SeeItLive.
Special guest on the night was local tenor, Aaron Doyle.
Soloists from the Gospel Choir were, Mary Donnelly, Dawn Broughan, Aodh Smith and Peter Clifford.
The event was made possible by the generous funding of Kildare County Council Arts Service who provided a grant through Healthy Ireland.
Adherence with all Government and Public Health Guidelines relating to Covid-19 were monitored by John Dooley, Covid-19 Officer.
