The Parish of Monasterevin takes its name from St Evin. A sixth century monk who founded a monastery on the west bank of the river Barrow.
The name is derived from the Irish word (Mainistir Eimphin) or monastery of St Evin.
The town is sometimes known as the “Vience of Ireland” because of its many bridges.
As a parish we welcome anyone who wishes to join us in any way for worship. We welcome people to volunteer for any of our parish groups.
We strive to make our parish a vibrant Christian community, who try to live out the core values of the gospel to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God.
